Owned and operated by the University of Kentucky
College of Agriculture and Kentucky Cooperative
Extension Service, this facility opened in 1987 as an
educational retreat for 4-H and other groups looking
for a place to escape urban distractions and learn.
University students, Road Scholars, folk dancers,
quilters, family reunions and many others have found
at the Center a laid-back place with simple,
comfortable accommodations, good food, natural
surroundings and a peaceful atmosphere conducive
to creativity and accomplishment.
Cedar and stonework lend a rustic
atmosphere to the lodge building,
which houses meeting rooms and
a large dining hall.

Outside are spacious decks and
a covered breezeway, where a
wide circle of rocking chairs
encourages folks to set a spell
and visit.
Over two hundred guests can
be lodged in several dormitory
wings of rooms that can sleep
up to four people.
Each guest room is a trip back
to summer camp, with its
stained wood surfaces and
bunk beds, yet each is
equipped with its own private
bathroom, heating/cooling unit
and wi-fi reception.  As each
room is “adopted” and
decorated by an organization,
business or family, no two are
alike.
The buildings are wheelchair-accessible,
and some guest rooms are fitted with
bathroom fixtures and aids for the
handicapped.

Parking for the disabled is
provided near the lodge.
HANDICAPPED- ACCESSIBLE

Eight RV sites with water and
electrical hook-ups are also
available close to the lodg
e.
Surrounded by forest and well-tended
lawn, where  deer are often seen,
the Educational Center  provides a
hiker with plenty of opportunity to
hit the trail or wander the turf.
If your knees are up to the mile down
and your heart to the mile back up,
you can even trek to the shores
of Lake Cumberland!
